Privacy and cookies

What this site keeps, what it asks about, and how to change your mind.

The short version

You don't need an account, and there are no forms to fill in. The names are made in your own browser, so what you type into a generator (your name in the Name Combiner, say) isn't sent anywhere.

Things saved in your browser

A few features remember things on your own device, using your browser's local storage. Nothing here is sent to us or anyone else:

  • Your shortlist: the names you save with the ♥ button.
  • Spin the Wheel and the name tools: the list of names you last entered, so it's still there next time.
  • Your cookie choice: whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so we don't ask on every page.

Clearing your browser's site data removes all of these.

Google Analytics

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to see which generators people use and how they find the site. It sets cookies (their names start with _ga) and tells Google which pages you visit, roughly where you are (country or city), and what kind of device and browser you use. We use this to decide which generators to improve and which to add. We don't use it for advertising.

Google Analytics only loads if you click Accept. If you click Reject, or ignore the question, it isn't loaded and no analytics cookies are set. Google explains how it handles this data in its privacy policy.

Grow by Mediavine

The site also uses Grow by Mediavine, a tool for saving pages to come back to later. It may store information in your browser. See Mediavine's privacy policy for the details.

Changing your choice

You can change your answer about analytics at any time. If you switch to Reject, the _ga cookies are removed.
