Elden Ring's characters are known as much by their titles as their names: Godrick the Grafted, Starscourge Radahn, Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, Malenia, Blade of Miquella. This Elden Ring name generator makes names in those patterns, from a plain Tarnished name for your character to a title worthy of a demigod's boss bar.
Three ways the Lands Between names its great ones
- Name, then title: Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon; Malenia, Blade of Miquella; Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy; Morgott, the Omen King. The title says what they rule or what they are.
- Name and epithet: Godrick the Grafted. One word that sums up the horror or the legend.
- Title first: Starscourge Radahn. A title so famous it comes before the name.
Your own character, a Tarnished, usually goes by a plain name. The Tarnished name only format gives you one; the others are for the boss you'd like to become, or the one your friends will face in co-op.
What makes a name sound like Elden Ring
- Old European names, slightly worn: Godfrey, Rennala, Melina, Alexander. Familiar enough to say, strange enough to feel ancient.
- Titles built from the setting's big ideas: the moon and stars, rot, fire, blood, grafting, the Erdtree.
- Grim honesty: FromSoftware titles describe exactly what went wrong. A lord of rot is rotting.
All the names and titles here are new, so you won't accidentally name your character after a demigod.
Naming your Tarnished
- Keep it short for messages. Your name appears in summon signs and invasions, so a simple name is easier for other players to recognise.
- Save the title for roleplay. Build a backstory around a title like Warden of the Forsaken Gate, then let the game decide if you live up to it.
- Match the build. A faith build might suit a golden title; an arcane or bleed build suits something bloodier.
