A DJ name has to work in small type on a crowded flyer, be shouted over a sound system and be easy to find on streaming services. This DJ name generator gives you names in the shapes DJs and producers use: a single striking name, a two-word alias, or the classic DJ prefix.
What makes a good DJ name
- Short. One or two words is the norm, from single names to two-word aliases.
- Searchable. A common word on its own is hard to find online; an unusual spelling or a pair of words is easier.
- Fits the sound. "Velvet Haze" suggests something different from "Bass Voltage".
- Free to use. Search SoundCloud, Spotify, Mixcloud, Beatport and Resident Advisor before you print anything.
To DJ or not to DJ
Putting "DJ" in front of a name is a classic that never quite went away, but many electronic artists drop it, especially producers who release music as well as play it. If you might produce, pick a name that works without it.
