Good theme park names fit the park's theme and its biggest thrill: Gull Point Amusement Park for a seaside fairground, Mount Thunder for coasters, Planet Kaboom for a space park. A great park needs a name that fits on the gate and on the map. This theme park name generator makes up parks for Planet Coaster, RollerCoaster Tycoon and your stories, from family pleasure gardens and thrill parks to fantasy kingdoms, sci-fi parks, water parks and spooky fairgrounds, each with a star ride if you want one.
Eight good theme park names
All eight came from the generator, across its styles:
- Puffin Point Pleasure Pier, where everyone queues for the Lollipop Express family coaster: a classic seaside park with its star ride.
- Colonel Tickleton's Fairground: an old-fashioned fair named after its showman.
- Mount Thunder, famous for the Bolthawk drop tower: a thrill park that sounds loud before you get there.
- Whiplash Falls: a coaster park and a warning in two words.
- The Kingdom of the Hundred Towers: a fantasy park with a castle on every map.
- Pulsar Bay, where the Hyper Quake space coaster blasts off: a sci-fi park with a ride to match.
- Totally Soaked, home of the Washout body slide: a water park that tells you what will happen.
- Wraith Pier, famous for the Gloomcatcher haunted house: a spooky fairground by the sea.
How real parks are named
- Pleasure gardens came first. London's 18th-century Vauxhall Gardens had music, lights and walks, and the name lived on in seaside parks.
- Blackpool Pleasure Beach, founded in 1896, kept the old word "pleasure". Seaside parks across Britain followed with piers, waltzers and scenic railways.
- Disneyland, which opened in California in 1955, split the park into themed lands, such as Frontierland and Tomorrowland. That's why so many parks now name their zones as well as the park itself.
- Thrill parks name themselves after speed, height or danger, and their rides after weather and wild animals.
Choose a style: Classic, Thrill park, Fantasy kingdom, Sci-fi, Water park or Spooky. Choose With a famous ride to give the park its headline attraction.
Naming a park in a game
- In Planet Coaster or RollerCoaster Tycoon, pick the theme first and the name second, so the entrance, the rides and the name all match.
- Name the zones too. Generate a few names in different styles for the different areas of a big park.
- Use the star ride as the name of your first big coaster.
