Good daycare and nursery names sound warm, safe and easy for a parent to say: Little Acorns, Cheeky Monkeys Playhouse, Miss Sarah's Daycare. Parents choose childcare on trust, so the name should feel friendly without being silly. This Daycare Name Generator suggests names for daycares, child care centers, UK nurseries, pre-schools and childminders, with US or UK wording and names built from your town or your own name.
Eight good daycare names
All eight came from the generator:
- Tiny Seeds: short, gentle and about growing.
- Cheeky Monkeys Playhouse: a friendly animal with a word that says what you do.
- Crayons & Cuddles: two things every parent wants for their child, in one name.
- The Old Vicarage Playgroup: a classic UK name after the building, which sounds settled and safe.
- The Acorn House Early Learning & Childcare: traditional and calm, for a setting that wants to feel established.
- Bloom Child Care Center: a modern one-word name with US wording.
- Clever Cubs with Sarah: a childminder's name that puts the person first.
- Auntie Sarah's Home Childcare: warm and personal, and says it's in a home.
Daycare, nursery or childminder?
The right word depends on where you are and how you work, and parents search for that word:
- US: daycare, child care center and preschool, plus family child care for a home setting.
- UK: day nursery, nursery school, pre-school and playgroup. A registered carer who looks after children in their own home is a childminder.
- Anywhere: childcare and early learning work in both.
Choose a region for names with the right wording. In England, nurseries and childminders who look after children under eight generally have to register with Ofsted, so your name will sit on an official register as well as your sign.
The popular themes are small and growing things (seeds, acorns, buds), friendly animals (owls, cubs, bears) and the old house the nursery is in. Avoid anything that could sound like a school you aren't, and anything a toddler's parent might not want to say out loud.
Check it's free before you print the sign
Press Check on any name, or use the Business Name Checker, to see whether it's free as a domain and a social handle and to search the company register. Before you commit:
- Company register: Companies House in the UK, or your state's business register in the US.
- Trade marks: search the UK IPO or USPTO register for anyone using the name in your field.
- Locally: search Google Maps for your area, since parents and clients will find you there first.
- Your regulator: in England, check how the name will appear on your Ofsted registration; in the US, on your state child care licence.

Making the name work
- Say it at pick-up time. Parents will say the name every day; keep it short enough to shorten naturally.
- Think about the sign and the T-shirts. A name with a simple picture in it (an acorn, an owl) is easy to turn into a logo children recognise.
- Leave room to grow. If you might add a pre-school or holiday club later, choose a name that isn't tied to one age group.
