Warcraft's trolls have names you can hear in your head: Vol'jin, Sen'jin, Zul'jin, Rastakhan, Talanji. Many are two short parts joined by an apostrophe, and "jin" turns up again and again. This World of Warcraft troll name generator builds names in that style, and can add one of Azeroth's troll tribes.
How troll names work
- Two parts and an apostrophe: Vol'jin, Sen'jin, Zul'jin. The second part is often short and repeated across names, especially -jin.
- Or one strong word: Rastakhan, Talanji, Zalazane, Rokhan.
- Hard, clipped sounds: z, j, k and r, with open vowels.
The generator mixes both kinds, so you get names like Zal'tik and Kozzul. All are new names, not ones from the game.
The troll tribes
- Darkspear: the tribe of Sen'jin and Vol'jin, who joined the Horde.
- Zandalari: the ancient troll empire, ruled by King Rastakhan and later Queen Talanji; playable since Battle for Azeroth.
- Amani: the forest trolls of Zul'Aman, Zul'jin's people, long-time enemies of the elves.
- Gurubashi: the jungle trolls of Stranglethorn and Zul'Gurub.
- Drakkari: the ice trolls of Northrend.
The With a tribe format adds one of these or other troll tribes from the games, like the Sandfury, Bloodscalp, Witherbark and Smolderthorn.
Getting a free name in WoW
WoW names are one word with no apostrophes, so Zal'tik becomes Zaltik in game. Most trolls worship the loa, the spirit-gods of the troll empires, and a troll character's chosen loa makes a good starting point for their story.
