Good trap names are flashy and fun to say: a Lil or a Young, a number, something icy, or a producer who's always "on the track". This trap name generator makes rapper and producer names, crew names and mixtape titles in the style of the Atlanta sound, kept clean.
Eight good trap names
All eight came from the generator, for rappers, producers, crews and mixtapes:
- Yung Luxo: Yung and a taste for luxury, the classic trap shape.
- Lil Lavish: a Lil name that alliterates.
- Baby Vito: a Baby name, short and easy to ad-lib.
- Mikey on the 808: a producer named after the drum machine trap is built on.
- Jordi on the Track: a producer tag ready to open every beat.
- The Frostbite Family: a crew name that's icy and loyal.
- Glacier Szn: a mixtape with "szn", short for season.
- Penthouse Dreams 2: a mixtape that's already planning its sequel.
How trap names work
Trap music grew up in Atlanta in the 2000s; T.I. called his 2003 album Trap Muzik. Its sound is built on the Roland TR-808 drum machine's booming kick and fast triplet hi-hats, and its names are built on a few habits:
- Lil, Young and Baby. Lil Wayne, Young Thug and Lil Baby are only a few. The generator adds the flash: Young Jeeko, Lulu Jewels.
- Producer tags. Producers say their names at the start of a beat, like Metro Boomin's "Metro Boomin want some more". Choose Producer for names like Keko on the Keys or Duke Made the Beat.
- Crews and labels are families and movements: Top Floor Family, Bossed Up Movement, 707 Entertainment.
- Mixtapes love a season and a sequel: Summer Szn, Luxury Tax 2.
Using the names
- Check it's free on SoundCloud, Spotify and Instagram. Lil and Young names are crowded, so add something only you would say.
- Record your tag. If you produce, a short spoken tag at the start of every beat makes your name stick.
