Good gym names are short, strong and easy to put on a T-shirt: Foundry Barbell, Benchmark Gym, Kettle On Fitness. The Gym Name Generator suggests names for a gym, personal training business or fitness studio (or fitness center): catchy, funny, strong and gritty, classic, modern, your town or your own name. Choose what you run to get the right trade words.
Eight good gym names
All eight came from the generator, across gyms, PT and studios:
- Foundry Barbell: strong and gritty, an industrial word for a lifting gym.
- Benchmark Gym: a catchy double meaning: a bench, and a standard to beat.
- The Engine House Health Club: a classic name from an old building.
- Torque Gym: modern, short and powerful.
- Kettle On Fitness: a friendly pun for a PT business.
- Personal Best Fitness: says what every client wants.
- Out of Breath Fitness Studio: funny and honest.
- Pace Studio: clean and modern, for classes.
How gym names work
- Strong names borrow from industry and stone: Quarry Strength Club, Slate Fitness Club, The Anvil Yard.
- Classic names use a surname or a building: Emerson's Strength Club, The Old Brewery Gym.
- Modern names are one word: Charge Fitness, Stride.
- Funny names win on social media: Planks a Lot, Swole Mates Gym.
Choose Personal training or Studio for the right trade words: PT, coaching, training studio, bootcamp or classes. A barbell club suggests lifting; a studio suggests classes; a health club suggests a pool and changing rooms.
Check it's free before you print the sign
Press Check on any name, or paste one into the Business Name Checker, to see whether the domain and social handles are free and to jump to the company register and trade mark searches. Then:
- Search the company register. In the UK that's Companies House; in the US, your state's business register.
- Search trade marks with the UK Intellectual Property Office or the USPTO, especially if you'll sell products or open more than one site.
- Look locally. Search Google Maps for gyms near you: a similar name a few streets away will confuse customers even if it's legally fine.

Thinking about growth
A personal trainer's own name is easy to start with, but if you might open a studio or hire coaches, a brand name grows with you. For mind and body classes, try the Yoga Studio Name Generator; for recovery, the Massage Business Name Generator. Kit and merch? The T-Shirt Business Name Generator.
