Good spray tan business names promise a glow without the sun, and many make a joke of the British weather: Rainy Day Tans, Mostly Cloudy Tans, Golden Hour Spray Tanning. The Spray Tan Business Name Generator suggests names for a spray tan studio, sunless tanning salon or mobile spray tan business: catchy, funny, cute, modern, mobile, your town or your own name.
Eight good spray tan business names
All eight came from the generator:
- Golden Hour Spray Tanning: borrows the photographer's name for the warm light just before sunset.
- Great British Summer Spray Tans: a joke every client in the UK will get.
- Pale & Interesting Tanning: turns the old phrase on its head, and people remember it.
- Honey Spray Tans: cute, warm and the right colour.
- Umber Tan Bar: a modern one-word colour name. Umber is an earthy brown pigment.
- The Doorstep Tan Co.: tells clients straight away that you come to them.
- Pop-Up Tans: suits a mobile business that sets up a tent at weddings and proms.
- Bronzed by Chloe: a personal name for a solo tanner whose clients book her, not a salon.
What makes a spray tan name work
Spray tans work with DHA (dihydroxyacetone), which reacts with the top layer of the skin and develops over several hours, so the whole business is about a believable glow without sun damage. The best names promise that in one or two words.
- Light and warmth: glow, golden, sun, bronze, honey and holiday say what you sell without saying "fake".
- Weather jokes work well in Britain: Rainy Day Tans or Mostly Cloudy Tans tell clients you're friendly before they book.
- Funny names about the experience (Arms Up Tan Club, Breathe In Tan Co.) are memorable, but think about whether a bride would book one for her wedding.
- Mobile names need to say you travel: Mobile, At Home, Pop-Up, Doorstep or Visiting.
- Colour words such as umber, ochre and taupe suit a minimal, modern studio.
Check it's free before you print the sign
A name only works if nobody else nearby has it. Before you order the sign, the cards or the van wrap, press Check on any name, or use the Business Name Checker:
- Domain and handles. Most clients will find you on Instagram or Google first, so get the .co.uk or .com and the same handle everywhere if you can.
- The company register. In the UK, a limited company name can't be the same as one already on Companies House. In the US, search your state's business register.
- Trade marks. Search the UK IPO or USPTO register for anything in your field, as a registered mark can stop you using a name even if the company register allowed it.
- Your area. Search Google Maps for spray tanning near you. A similar name a few streets away will confuse clients and reviews.
This is general guidance, not legal advice. For the full process, read Business Naming Best Practices.
Getting the most from the name
- Test it on a car door. A mobile name has to be readable from across a car park.
- Say what you offer in the tagline, not the name: "Organic, vegan spray tans for weddings and events" can sit under any of these.
- Think about prom season. If teenagers are a big part of your bookings, a fun name will go down better than a luxury one.
